When you or I get thirsty, we grab a bottle of Aquafina. When a rich and famous Hollywood celebrity like Nicole Richie gets thirsty, it's called dehydration and requires a trip to the emergency room. Maybe things have changed since our last trip to L.A., but we're pretty sure that water costs about ninety-nine cents at the gas stations on every corner in the city. Maybe famous people are forbidden from purchasing any item that costs less than a thousand dollars and doesn't come with it's own cashmere carrying case. That, or Cedars-Sinai boosts their water with cocaine for extra thirst-quenching goodness.

Imdb reports:

Socialite Nicole Richie was briefly hospitalized for dehydration on Friday after falling ill while filming the new season of her reality show The Simple Life. The 25-year-old was examined by a doctor on the set of the show and she was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to E! Online, she was given intravenous fluids for 15 minutes and then released. After the incident, her representative said, "Nicole is home resting and will return to work this evening. We are proud of the weight that Nicole is gaining and her focus on her health." Richie announced in October she was seeking treatment to help her gain weight. The upcoming season of The Simple Life features Richie and best friend Paris Hilton working as camp counselors.

Ah, that wild and wacky premise may be the key to understanding Nicole's devastating illness. It's likely that one of Nicole's campers took a dislike to her approach to macramÈ crafts hour and told her he was going to pee in the camp's entire potable water supply, making her beverage shy.
