Things that fall under the category "good parenting": making sure you kids eat their vegetables and take their vitamins, kissing their boo-boos, helping them with their homework. Things that put you in a parenting class with Tatum O'Neal and Joan Crawford: buying that cute little house that just happens to be next door to a crack den, letting your child play make-believe with your automatic-weapon collection, speeding away from paparazzi with your infant perched between you and the steering wheel. Which of these do think best describes Britney Spears?
Britney seems to be spending a lot of time in her car lately: chasing after her ne'er do well concubine, running from paparazzi. And this time in involved the extreme endangerment of her five-month-old son. Brit was out for a Bucky's run with her bodyguard and wee tyke, and according to People:
"When the bodyguard went into the store to get the drinks, Spears took Sean out of his car seat and held him in her lap while she waited. Photographers approached the car, says the source, and became aggressive. Once her bodyguard climbed back into the car, Spears drove away while still holding her son."
But Britney claims that she was only trying to protect little Sean from those horrid, damaging flash bulbs, which can do so much harm to an infant's delicate skin. She explains:
"Today I had a horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi while I was with my baby. Because of a recent incident when I was trapped in my car without my baby by a throng of paparazzi, I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger. I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way, but the paparazzi continued to stalk us, and took photos of us which were sold to the media. I love my child and would do anything to protect him."
Of course Britney meant she would do anything to protect her son from those scary, soul-stealing cameras. Two tons of metal careening into a big brick wall is something the kid can deal with on his own.
