Well, Christmas is ruined. Ruined for rollergirls, Suicide Girls, rockabillies, psychobillies, and punkabillies, for their patron saint, '50s pinup model Bettie Page, has departed this mortal coil at the age of 85. Part of Variety's obit:
Bettie Page, the 1950s secretary-turned-model whose controversial photographs in skimpy attire or none at all helped set the stage for the 1960s sexual revolution, died Thursday. She was 85.
Page was placed on life support last week after suffering a heart attack in Los Angeles and never regained consciousness, said her agent, Mark Roesler. He said he and Page's family agreed to remove life support. Before the heart attack, Page had been hospitalized for three weeks with pneumonia.
"She captured the imagination of a generation of men and women with her free spirit and unabashed sensuality," Roesler said. "She is the embodiment of beauty."
In memoriam, we're designing a Bettie Page RIP tattoo. The ultimate Bettie Page tattoo. It features Bettie posing in heaven with a halo over her bangs, encircled in flames with dice tumbling down and flaming cherries raining on her with Johnny Cash presiding over her funeral and a big word balloon coming out of her mouth that reads "ZOOT SUIT RIOT". Don't steal our idea!

RIP Bettie baby while we don't fall into any of the cat. spelled out above you will always be remembered.
We do have to disagree on the stereotyped Bettie lover cat. you have mentioned on your (b)log. Most BP fans are actually not just the small groups you mention of misfits, truth is closeted average housewifes know her well if you get out and really get to know their dirty secrets, behind the bedroom doors of middle America is Bettie living on.
I'm not really sure what LLL is saying, but I agree with the sentiment. Bettie Page is a cultural touchstone. Her pictures were sexy without being smutty. She had an amazing combination of eroticism, confidence, and even innocence. Most of all she had class.
I think you should revise this post and pay her the respect she's due.
