Aw, what's wrong, Angelina? Is your daughter's name not as unique as you had hoped? Do you now wish you'd named Shiloh Thesmerila or Regtamulam? The good news is you've still got time to amend her birth certificate before those icky mean French perfumers steal your daughter's now useless name forever. Pax didn't seem to mind the name change at three-and-a-half, so changing little Shiloh's name when she hasn't even reached her first birthday shouldn't cause her any lasting psychological problems. We think.
Life & Style (via Celeb Warship) brings us this heartwarming tale of a mother who will stop at nothing to defend her daughter's honor and integrity. Or at least the honor and integrity of her daughter's name. Same thing, right?
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is still too young to speak a full sentence ó but sheís already locked in a legal battle over her name!Life & Style has learned that both Shiloh, 11 months, and mom Angelina Jolie, 31, have filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to block Hors L· Monde Corp., a jewelry-design and fragrance company, from naming its latest perfume Shiloh.
Hors L· Monde, a one-woman outfit owned by designer Symine Salimpour, 31, applied for the trademark last June. Since then, Shiloh and Angie, through their New York City lawyer, have received two 90-day extensions to prepare a case opposing Hors L· Mondeís use of the name.
ìThe notice of opposition alleges that you will be damaged by the pending trademark,î says Thomas M. Wilentz, a trademark attorney in New York City. ìAngelina must feel that people applying for ëShilohí need to get her consent.î
Life & Style contacted Salimpour recently in NYC, but she refused to comment on the case. Angelinaís rep could not immediately be reached for comment.
An insider close to the designer says the perfume has been in development in France for two years ó and that Salimpour did not name the perfume after Angie and Brad Pittís love child.
ìThe name is completely unrelated,î the insider says. ìSymine is citizen of both France and Israel, but she identifies strongly with her Israeli roots ó itís a spiritual thing for her. Shiloh is a Hebrew name that means ëhis gift.íî
The insider is one of just a few people who have smelled Shiloh, the perfume, and says it's a woody scent with a faint whiff of patchouli.
What really worries us here is that Angelina is setting a precedent for all celebrity parents. Because October won't be as much fun after Gwyneth Paltrow latches on to this idea and our snack cravings have to be met by roundish sweet/tart fruit product #4.
Angie's ample nudity at MrSkin.com is wholly unique.
