Yet another network, this time ABC, was forced to apologize for combining nudity and football. Irate fans and National Football League both complained bitterly over an intro spot for Monday Night Football, which featured Desperate Housewives star Nicolette Sheridan in the buff. Other networks take note: funbags and football are a noxious mixture, indeed.
The gag showed Sheridan wearing only a towel, which she promptly dropped for Philadelphia Eagles star Terrell Owens.
In a statement, ABC stated that "We have heard from many of our viewers about last night's `MNF' opening segment and we agree that the placement was inappropriate."
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello added, "While ABC may have gained attention for one of its other shows, the NFL and its fans lost." Because, as we all know, if there's one thing football fans hate, it's naked blonde TV stars with huge jugs.
